3/13/2023 0 Comments Bluegrass guitar forum![]() ![]() And I'm talking guys beyond Dan Crary, who has been with Taylor for years. ![]() With the changes in how some of the models are being built at Taylor by Andy Powers, I've even seen some Taylors being played over the past couple years by full-time professionals. Just off the top of my head, with the exception of having seen Dan Tyminski and Del McCoury play their signature models on different occasions (often in addition to their vintage guitars), most of the top players I see live are on guitars from moderate size builders like Collings down to small shops like Huss & Dalton, Gallagher, or Bourgeois - or the one or two person boutique luthier operations. Modern guitars: any number of guitars from other builders other than Martin. Any number of vintage D18s and D-28s from the 1960s and prior.Ģ. I'm perfectly content at this time with my CS-21-11 even though a number of our members might not think of it as archetypal modern 'grass guitar.īut what I see from the pros for the most part, there are exceptions:ġ. ![]() Not so much my opinion below, but more my observations from attending quite a few bluegrass concerts over the years and seeing what the people who pay the grocery bills and for the roof over their head with their guitar are playing.
